Testimonials

I had yews removed from front yard which had grown into a chain link fence with stumps ground down and a large elm tree trimmed. Excellent service from Trumbull Barrett and his crew. They finished the job in record time and did an excellent job cleaning up.

They sprayed bacterium for winter moss. Trumbull was excellent and professional. He showed up when he said he would and did a good job. He wasn't the cheapest, but I felt that I got what I paid for.

First, Trumbull came to our house to evaluate the health of a pine tree in our backyard. He gave a very educated analysis of the symptoms of our tree on the spot, but also took a branch off our tree back to the office with him for further research. He then sent weblinks and a further description of the issue (fungal disease) via email and recommended two paths of action (removal and ongoing treatment). We ultimately decided to take down the tree and grind the stump, which Trumbull and his colleagues also did for us. While at our house, the team also pruned a very tangled maple tree and ground another stump. The work was scheduled appropriately, the team showed up on time, and completed the job with the utmost professionalism and high quality. Throughout the process, Trumbull also corresponded clearly through emails, confirming the date, the work, and assuaging our loss of the pine! We highly recommend this organization for tree work. Trumbull knows a lot about the health of trees, but also a lot about how to manage/maintain trees. We also got three estimates for the job and his was by far the most reasonable and thorough.

We had a tree removed and many tree cleaned up from large, dead branches. It went great! Everything looked fantastic and Trumbull and his crew left the site spotless. I have had a lot of work done on this house and I've found its rare that someone will do such a well thought out job. I could see from the first moments meeting with Trumbull he was organized, experienced and professional. I recommend him to anyone.

Trumbull trimmed up three pine trees, a small Japanese maple and took down an old lilac tree. Everything went great from start to finish and I would highly recommend this company. First, Trumbull was the only tree service company out of three from Angie's List who returned my call. We initially talked about the work I wanted done, this past winter a lot of branches had broken off leaving a lot of dead, half-broken timber in the trees, I wanted them cleaned up. I was also concerned about a fungus that might be attacking the pines. We made an appointment for Trumbull to see the trees. He arrived on the arranged date on time, assessed the trees and gave me a price on the spot. He also promised to e-mail me information about the fungus on the pine and to check when was the appropriate time to spray. Two days later, Trumbull e-mailed me the information about the fungus and we scheduled the work. Again, on the arranged date, he arrived with his crew and machinery right on time and ready to work. A few hours later, my trees were beautifully pruned, the lilac was removed and the maple was trimmed. We also decided to spray later in the fall. Trumbull and his crew cleaned up the yard and even chipped a large pile of dead branches that had been sitting in the yard since winter. They did a great job and I'm thrilled!

Trumbull removed a large inkberry shrub from my garden and trimmed off a large branch on a Japanese maple. Removing the inkberry and getting all of the roots out was a fair amount of physical labor. He also scheduled the job on a Sunday afternoon in order to fit me into his busy schedule. Trumbull was terrific! From answering my initial call at 8:30 pm (when I expected to be greeted by an answering machine), to coming to give an estimate when he said he would, to taking out the shrub, pruning the maple, and taking all of the debris out with him so. He even brought a leaf blower to clean up afterwards. He made the job look easy but managed to remove the entire rootball and stray roots, and was very thorough, professional, polite, and easy to work with.

The removal and cleanup of two trees in our backyard patio, each of which posed obvious difficulties.
From our initial meeting to the final, and very thorough, clean-up, the entire operation was an unqualified success. I can best put I this way: it's as if three guys you've known for a long time happened to be extraordinarily competent tree men. I can't remember a time when I was so impressed with a service call.

We had five large trees and a number of smaller trees removed. Excellent! They were super-tree men! Very professional. They came on time, made sure they could drive the trucks into the yard, and began to work right away. I was able to change which trees I wanted removed midway and Trumbull offered suggestions about which changes made sense. They threw in a couple of small trees for no extra charge. They were done before 5 and had cleaned up the place beautifully plus left us about a half a cord of wood nicely stacked for our fire next year. We already made plans for them to come and remove another tree in winter. They give Angie's list members a 5% discount on all services and also have a winter discount.

Barrett Tree Service East removed 2 very large maple trees from a Cambridge backyard. The largest was very close to our house (5 feet) and the neighbor's house. Excellent, from start to finish. Trumbull Barrett is friendly, flexible and efficient, as well as being an experienced professional. He was personable and responsive from the first phone call. I was very worried about the possibility of tree limbs falling on my neighbor's house or damaging something in their yard (this happened last time when I just had the trees pruned, by another company). Trumbull was understanding and went way out of his way to ease my worries. I live out of town (the house is currently a rental), so he introduced himself to the neighbors to make sure they were okay with everything. He also checked with them when he was finished to make sure they had no complaints. (And I believe he trimmed a few branches for them too, in thanks for them moving their cars so he could park his truck in front of our house). We arranged the work on short notice, so there wasn't time for the police permit to reserve parking, so we arranged it with my tenants and the neighbors to free the spots he needed. This was a little extra effort on his part, that incidentally saved me some money. Trumbull was the best choice for the job, having given me the most competitive bid, but with his friendliness and patience and flexibility, he was perfect for a worried out-of-town landlord like me. He called me mid-job to let me know how things were progressing and even emailed me pictures afterwards. I recommend him very highly!! I'd give him an A+ if the form allowed it.

BTSE, Took down 1 rather large Norway Maple, 8 smaller mid-sized trees, pruned 2 additional large trees. Ground the stumps of 4 of the trees. Removed pile of tree branches (not from this service). Removed all chips/branches trimmed or taken down, except chips and wood we asked to be left. Trumbull was very professional throughout this process. He had a great knowledge base and was helpful in making decisions about which trees to remove and which to keep & trim. He came out for an estimate in a very timely manner, then came out again to re-estimate when we decided to do more work. We set a date for the tree work to be done in mid-April and Trumbull and his team were great. They spent 2 days on this project and did an excellent job. Even my neighbors commented on their professionalism and efficiency. We needed to work with some of my neighbors to get access to the trees and Trumbull had the documents prepared to cover any liability - this facilitated the process - and made everything official. My neighbors were sad to see the large tree go (but it was beginning to rot) and to save some of the tree, he made a bench out of the trunk - this my neighbors all love! I was completely satisfied with this work and would readily recommend this company for tree services.

We had 8 trees approx. 30-40ft in height that needed to be trimmed away from the house in a crowded and tight area of South Boston. 4 trees needed significant reconstruction in order to make sure that they lasted for the long haul and one tree had some sort of bug growing on it. Trumbell did all the work from start to finish and with a great sense of ethics and workmanship. I wish all my vendor experiences were like what I had with Barrett Tree Service East. Trumbell is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about trees. He went to school for trees, is certified, knows the standards, and is more knowledgeable than all of the 3 other companies that I had quote the job. There were 4 Bradford Pears along the alley and 4 Copper Beech trees in a closed in courtyard in the back that needed a great deal of shaping and trimming. I setup a time of 9am on a Saturday morning to have Trumbell quote the job. As the clock struck 9am exactly I heard his truck outside. He quoted the job and even took notice of a bug that one tree had. When it was time to do the job he scheduled it 4 weeks in advance and without me calling to remind him he showed up on the day of the job in the pouring rain without complaint. He completed the job quickly and did a far better job than expected. All trash was removed without the slightest damage to the gardens below. Due to the driving rain Trumbell did not feel comfortable treating the tree with the bug or completing the fertilization of the trees. Instead he recommended waiting 2-3 days for the ground to dry out and then completing the work. He showed up on Sat without delay and finished the fertilization and bug treatment as promised. Trumbell works hard and has the business ethics of a man interested in a long lasting relationship with his clients. His prices are very reasonable and the service is second to none. From here on out I will use no one else but Trumbell.
